THE NEW PERCEPTION THROUGH ARCHITECTURE

For decades, Lanna culture has created an impressive perception in tourism and trade industries of Chiang Mai. The past two decades has brought an emergence of commercial community in the heart of the city at Nimmanhaemin Soi 1. The new perception has been tailored through design studios and lifestyle retailers who skillfully blend traditional uniqueness with modern manufacturing procedures, transforming the creative industry of Chiang Mai toward modernity and uncommon difference. Also, colorful lifestyle of Nimmanhaemin Soi 1 has brought the well-renowned annual art and design fair,
Nimmanhaemin Art & Design Promenade (NAP), which has been running for 18 years in a row. Interestingly, the event is a key factor that transformed the isolated and bushy Nimmanhaemi Road into an important commercial road of Chiang Mai. Additionally, NAP has lighted up the passion and created oppotunities for entrepreneurs who are thriving in creative industry to become more keen to produce new kinds of goods for shoppers. The neighborhood also houses other businesses, such as cafes, coffee shops, galleries, art spaces and many more.

THE MASTER OF AUTHENTIC VERNACULAR

Ong-Ard has focused his search for the authentic in the vernacular and classical language of the sophisticated works found in such diverse places as Italy and China, nepal and India. In Italy, he has visited all of the villas of andrea palladio (1508–1580) — looking, drawing, and measuring — to try to understand their mysterious, enduring attraction. palladio’s architecture is a source of interest for many reasons not the least of which is that he worked in a very methodical way. like Palladio, Ong-ard has drawn from the classical architecture of the past to derive a set of components that can be used in different combinations
for different projects and clients. (all of palladio’s villas employ a code of proportional relationships, derived in part from the architecture of ancient Rome.) Incidentally, Colin rowe — wrote the well-known treatise “The Mathematics of the Ideal Villa” (1947), a text that discusses architectural and organizational similarities in the works of Palladio and Le Corbusier.
Ong-ard is a disciplined and careful designer who has transcended any hint of formula through his sensitivity to scale and proportion and by an innate and inventive compositional skill, an aspect of design that is basically intuitive.

A NEW CULTURAL SPACE, A PLACE WHERE CULTURE GROWS

ONE NIMMAN has a parking building that can cater more than 200 car parks, along with a parking space that serves 20 largesized coaches to facilitate group tourists. There is also the Nimmanhaemin Road-Huay Kaew Road connecting route that offers visitors and passers-by more convenience, as well as provides an easy approach to other commercial areas on Nimmanhaemin road, which can be reached by foot at ease
